David Austin’s Rose Golden Celebration in watercolor

SOLD

This is a small version of the beautiful yellow David Austin Rose “Golden Celebration”. I have painted it in watercolor on 600 g (340 Lb) coldpressed Arches paper.

My Colours for the Rose were: Indian Yellow, Aureolin (for the cooler and lighter areas), Translucent Orange, Scarlet Red, Alizarin Crimson, Phthalo Blue.
On the leaves I used Sap Green, Indian Yellow, Helio Turquoise, Alizarin Crimson.
In the background I did at first washes of Indian Yellow, Alizarin Crimson and Sap Green and Helio Turquoise. I placed them side by side and let them flow. I then added a mix of Alizarin Crimson, Sap Green and Helio Turquoise, which gives you a really dark colour.

Hi, thank you for the comments on my blog, couldn't resist a look at yours! You have painted the Golden Celebration rose beautifully, I have that rose planted over my Dad's ashes and it looks and smells gorgeous. Thank you for reminding me of how lovely it is.
